The Core Gameplay Loop
Segmented Pacing
This document outlines the updated MVP gameplay cycle. The game relies on a "Segmented Pacing" flow: players prepare in safety, travel via the ship, execute dangerous field work, and return home to upgrade.
🔄 The Macro Loop (Round-to-Round)
This is the structure of a single "Shift" or "Mission."
- The Contract & Prep (Home Scene): The crew accepts an order. Using their current stockpile, they cook and pack the meals before leaving the safety of the base. Missing ingredients can be bought via the shop/terminal, but they are expensive.
- The Transit (Warp to Level): Players load the packed food into the ship, sit down, and the pilot initiates the warp sequence (loading screen disguise).
- The Execution (Hostile Field): The ship lands. The crew disembarks to run the delivery while fighting off Monster enemies to the customer, receive payments.
- The Harvest: During delivery, players use their ammo/melee weapons to hunt monsters and forage for raw ingredients.
- The Extraction: The crew returns to the ship with the new raw materials and cash (Loot) and warps back to the Home planet.
⏱️ The Micro Loops (Second-to-Second)
Because our pacing is segmented, players experience two completely different types of gameplay depending on their location.
Phase 1: Homebase Micro Loop (Culinary)
- Manage: Organize the inventory and fridge.
- Process: Use time-based cooking stations (chopping, grilling) to turn raw meat from the last run into high-tier dishes.
- Coordinate: Work together to pack the delivery boxes before the shift starts.
Phase 2: Field Micro Loop (Action)
- Navigate: Run across the terrain to reach the drop-off point.
- Combat: Use limited-ammo guns and melee weapons to fend off hungry monsters.
- Forage: Strike defeated enemies to spawn and collect "meat" physics cubes. Manage limited inventory slots to carry them back.
📈 The Meta Loop (Progression)
This is the economy that keeps players addicted between shifts.
The Hybrid Economy
Players must balance spending money on Combat Survivability versus Delivery Efficiency. Buying raw ingredients from the shop should always feel like a "tax" for failing to harvest enough in the field.
- Arsenal Upgrades: Purchase stronger, one-shot weapons or durable melee gear for hunting.
- Traversal Upgrades: Buy Jetpacks or Delivery Bikes, Bigger Delivery Boxes to make the Field phase faster.
- Kitchen Upgrades: Buy better grills, automated choppers, and more efficient storage for the Safe-House.
- Next Shift: Accept a harder contract with rarer required meats, and begin the loop again.
